Math
Students are working on reviewing their addition and subtraction facts. We are working on reading story problems and explaining how we would solve the problem. Each classroom does math in different ways, so check out the page of your child's teacher to see what is happening.
It is VERY important that students study their addition and subtraction facts every night.

Math Rotations
This year in math, we are doing math rotations to give students the skill practice they need in a smaller group setting. Each chapter, students will be tested on skills from the chapter. The skills they already have mastered, will be touched upon, and focus will be given to the skills they haven't learned or skills they need to work on mastering.
While students are working with the teacher, other students will be working at one of three other stations.
Station IPAD/CODING: This station will focus on using iPads to work on math skills we are studying or working on code.org assignments. At this station, students will work on the concept they learned about during teacher time.
Station FACT PRACTICE: At this station, students will use flashcards, regular playing cards, and file folder games to become fluent on their math facts. Students should be proficient in addition and subtraction facts through 20 by the end of second grade.
Station MATH CENTERS: At this station, students will play file folder and other cooperative games to build their skills that are being worked on in class. These skills may include graphs, time, problem solving, addition & subtraction, etc.
IF students use their time wisely during independent work time, they should not have homework.
Homework for math class with always have the word "DO or H" at the top.
